So i have a bunch of macpro 3,1 (2008) machines around and in the very serious need of getting a virtualised setup going for our server.
I have read on the vmware forums that someone got ESXi running on their 2008 mac pro, but of course i have had no such luck in doing so. So for now i have changed to install centos 5.5 on the mac pro, and tried to run vmware server 2.02 on it, but while it sorta runs, there are some problems, apparently a glibc conflict. Centos 5.3 seems to be the most recent stable release that runs vmware server, but of course it is not happy at all on the mac pro.
Has anyone here seen ESXi install successfully on a mac pro ? What about centos 5.3 ? And before i reinstall yet again, does anyone have anything to say about xen, in regards to running it on a mac pro ?
